Black Kyanite
Origin: South America, Brazil, Minas Gerais, Minas Novas, Ribeirão da Folha
Kyanite is a silicate mineral, commonly found in aluminium-rich metamorphic pegmatites and sedimentary rock. This mineral was named in 1789 by Abraham Gottlieb Werner, from the Greek word “kyanos”, meaning “blue”.
This interesting black Kyanite has unusual fan like crystal structures, very different to more typical Kyanite.
The photos were taken in bright sunlight to bring out their best colours.
