Malachite and Chrysocolla are secondary copper minerals.
Malachite (the green) is a light to dark green banded stone that crystallizes and forms botryoidal, fibrous or stalagmitic crystals deep underground. Its name is derived from the Greek words, molochitis lithos meaning “mallow-green stone”. Chrysocolla (the blue) is abeautiful bright blue mineral normally found in botryoidal and rounded formations.
These brightly coloured, sought-after minerals are found in their best form in this remote West African country.
We are selling selected hand-polished pieces from the DRC. The photos were taken in bright sunlight to bring out their best colours.
